Kellie Harry Artwork_Message for the People_Organge 16 x 20

$150.00

This beautiful original piece created by Kellie Harry honors "Every Child Matters", also known as "Orange Shirt Day", and National Day for Truth and Reconciliation or National Day of Remembrance, which observed yearly on September 30th in Canada and the United States. The importance of this day is to remember and honor our ancestors that endured decades of cultural genocide through separation from their families and excessive force and abuse including physical, sexual, and emotional abuse perpetrated against Indian children.

The message included at the bottom of the picture describes the meaning of the artwork:

"The drawing represents the caretakers of the land so that life can be sustained for many generations to come, just has it has sustained life for many generations before us. The blank face represents that it is a responsibility of all. The lines in the hair represent that we each have a path in this responsibility, and each path is different and unique, but infinite. The medicine wheel represents all nations working together in unity for a common goal represented by the center circle. The eagle feather represents the connection we must maintain with our ancestors and medicines which makeup the land. The water represents that fight for perfection of water rights, and the accountability to honor the water rights."
